Spacious two bedroom floating cabin, nestled in its own beautiful cove right on Fontana Lake! The perfect spot for fishing, boating, sunsets, relaxing or entertaining. The large, open decks (both covered and uncovered) are great for all occasions. Lights and phone chargers are powered by the solar panel on this roomy 650 sq ft floating paradise. With nearly double the square footage, the deck is perfect for enjoying the views of Fontana Lake and the Great Smoky Mountains. Included in the cost of the rental is the propane tank for the grill or to stay warm on those chilly nights. A big kitchen, lots of counter space and a four burner gas stove. There is no refrigerator or power but a large cooler with daily complimentary ice will be provided. A french press, mugs, plates, utensils, pots & pans, paper towels and garbage bags are also included. There is water filtration at the sink for clean drinking water. Cell service works, no cable tv, no wifi at the cabin but you can use the wifi at the marina. Bedding, linens, pillows and towels are provided. Two bedrooms and one pull out sofa, each with a full size bed. The bathroom has a hot water shower and toilet (marine toilet paper is provided). Only 1 pet allowed for $35, no size limit and not to be left unattended. This floating cabin is stationary and cannot be moved. The cabin is directly across from Fontana Marina and only accessible by water. A canoe with paddles are provided with the rental or you are welcome to bring your own. Guests can enjoy a 3 minute paddle from the Marina to the boathouse. If paddling is not for you, no worries, another option is to pay a small separate fee to the Marina for a pontoon boat shuttle. Head down a secluded mountain road, cross a little bridge, and you'll end up at your own private hideaway - La Foret Chalet. La Foret Chalet is a mountain chalet style cabin nestled in the woods near a babbling, stocked trout stream in Western North Carolina. You'll find an upgraded kitchen with granite countertops and all the items you'll need for cooking that gourmet meal. There are three bedrooms. The master bedroom is huge! There's a comfy, king size bed, a walk-in closet, private bath with separate tub and shower, and a separate balcony. This cabin is completely private with the help of a babbling brook, a mountain view and the backyard of the Nantahala National Forest. Our hiking trail is steps from the cabin, or just go around the (Arthur's) Circle for a really short hike. This house was built in 1950 as a family home. It has all the amenities to make it your home away from home: fully equipped kitchen, linens, washer and dryer. 2 televisions with dish TV and Satellite Internet. There are 3 bedrooms and a family room' that has a full 'hide-a-bed', so it can be used as a bedroom. There are roll-away beds that can be used and a blow-up, full sized, elevated bed. All of the beds together will enable 12 people to sleep comfortably. The views are spectacular, the small stream running alongside the property has a comforting burble sound. The stream across the road has more of a rushing sound. The garage is a 2.5 car garage with a good concrete floor to keep your bikes/cars out of the weather. The driveway and road from rt-129 are paved. This is the place to make your base of operations for riding the Dragon, the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Cherohala sky way, fishing or whitewater rafting in the Cheoah river (6 tenths of a mile away) or enjoying the Santeetlah reservoir. Come in the fall for beautiful foliage and spectacular views of the mountains afire with the colors of fall. I have now worked with a local merchant and made a new capability available; if you would like to have your groceries waiting for you when you arrive at the home, I will be providing a shopping list that you can email to them and the groceries can be waiting for you in the refrigerator and cabinets when you arrive, no worry about getting them to the house on your motorcycles

This home is surrounded by large trees and features an open as well as screened porch overlooking a romantic peaceful environment and the Smoky Mountains in the distance. All you hear is birds and the sound of Cochrans Creek flowing along the property line. Those who visit to tackle the Tail of the Dragon on either two or four wheels there is ample parking as well as a 18x21' metal garage adjacent to the home with rolling door to store you vehicle protected from the elements. The 3/2 1708 sq ft home itself features tile and new vinyl flooring throughout. All bedrooms as well as the living room have new remote controlled fan light fixtures and feature walk in closets. The living /dining section offers a generous open floor plan with a 65" flatscreen wall mounted for entertainment. The property is equipped with central A/C and heater. For those cooler nights there is a remote controlled gas log fire place in the living room. The huge kitchen features glass cooktop and oven, vented micro hood, french door fridge and freezer with icemaker and water dispenser. Coffee maker, toaster, blender and all the utensils to cook and serve are in place to accomodate a family of 6. The screened porch fatures a stainless propane BBQ grill and plenty of outdoor seating as well as a remote controlled fanlight for entertainment. To make sure you are not running out of room there is a second frigde/freezer in the laundry room for those bulk items. We do offer Dish network TV programming and WiFi. Our internet service is provided via satellite and we kindly ask our fellow guests to refrain from streaming movies and downloading large files onto their personal devices using our free internet service. We have a monthly data limit and once this is used up the service provider will on their end drastically throttle the speed. So out of fairness to ALL the parties planning to stay at our wonderful home we hope you abide by this code of ethics.. Jump off your own private dock into 25' of the purest, cleanest water imaginable. 85 degrees all summer long. A kayak is provided but many guests bring their own kayaks, canoes, and fishing boats. Fish, swim or just relax next to the water. *Please note that the lake levels are dam controlled and vary throughout the year. Typically we have a full lake from Memorial Day to Labor Day with accessibility year round from Fontana Marina - 10 minutes from the house. A family can pack some people in or two couples with kids could share. There is also a separate, tiny cabin with a deck that has a queen bed. It is a short walk from the Tiny cabin to the 800 square foot covered porch nestled on the side of a hill. There is also a bathroom with a shower and toilet on the outdoor deck. The cabin is designed to encourages outdoor living and we spend 90% of our time on the porch, with three ceiling fans, when not playing in the lake or on the property. The porch (outside living room) has a massive stone fireplace, surrounded by couches. You will love roasting marshmallows by the fire every night. The porch also features a bathroom and an instant hot water shower. So the tiny cabin inhabitants don't need to go into the main house when showering or using the facilities. The shower has a little window overlooking the stream that runs next to the porch in the side yard. Our girls love to pan for gold in the stream for hours. A charcoal grill is provided but guests should add charcoal to the grocery list to be sure they are fully equipped when arriving to the property (charcoal is not provided). Walking up the property, there are several trails that lead to the top of the ridge where the old forest road runs for miles. If you're up for a leisurely 3 mile hike (once at the top) you can travel it to the end and you will be in the cove where they shot the Jody Foster movie, "Nell". If you love to fly fish, it does not get better than this! Native Browns a short boat ride away. This is a great place for outdoor adventurers. Some of the best mountain biking in the world is a 15 minute drive away at Tsali, where there are miles of trails that sweep along remote coves of Fontana lake. The Nantahala Outdoor Recreation center is only 15-20 minutes away where you can go for lunch, a beer, or take a guided white water rafting or kayaking trip. Wintertime enthusiasts: While the lake is too low to use, Beech Mountain is only 45 minutes away, fun NC skiing day or night. We are also only 25 minutes from beautiful Bryson city, often voted the prettiest mountain town in America. Our cozy cabin on Lake Santeetlah is great for a couple or small family to relax and unwind. Lake Santeetlah is located in Graham County, just south of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and in the Nantahala National Forest. Lake Santeetlah is a pristine and clear 3000 acre lake with a 1939 foot lake elevation, with an average depth of 56 feet and a maximum of 213’. About 80% of the lake shoreline is national park, with only 20% developed. (*Please be aware that VRBO has started charging you a "Service Fee" of about 12% and has now added an additional 3% fee on top of that. If you would like to avoid this, please let me know.) The Cabin has 2 bedrooms, living room, bath, screened in porch, decks and a private dock. The first bedroom has a queen sized bed (sleeps 2) and the second bedroom has a twin bed (sleeps 1). The cabin is newly renovated with a new kitchen and bath. The first bedroom has a queen bed with great views of the lake. The second bedroom has a twin bed. Dinner on the screened in porch, followed by a board or card game is a great way to end the day after a long day in the lake swimming, tubing, boating or playing. There is a canoe available on the property and two kayaks, along with a few noodles and other lake toys. The lake is deep and clear. You can see the fish swimming around the dock! Bring your own boat and launch it at the public boat ramp or rent a boat at the local Marina. The water at our dock is very deep and will allow almost any size boat to be docked there. There is fresh water fishing in the lake, with all different types of bass: largemouth, smallmouth, spotted, white and striped bass. Walleye, catfish and crappie are also caught on the lake. Fly fishing for trout is just off the lake in the creeks leading to the lake, with Buffalo Creek, Big Snowbird Creek and Yellow Creek local favorite places. Some rivers are hatchery supported and some only have wild trout. The area around the cabin has a lot to offer to explore or for a rainy day. Cherokee is about 1 hour north on Hwy 74/441. Scenic train rides take you around the mountains starting in Bryson City. Tsali Recreation Area is nationally known for its mountain bike rides, with 42 miles of trails. Closer to home, the famous Tail of the Dragon starts just outside of Town, along with Moonshiner Highway (Rt 28) and the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest has trees so large it takes a group of people to put their arms all the way around a single tree. The Appalachian Trail is just 8 miles from Lake Santeetlah along with other shorter hikes to waterfalls and beautiful creeks. And yes, there are bears in the area, so be aware! There is also white water rafting on the Nantahala River or the Little Tennessee River just outside of Town. Come, enjoy your stay, relax, have fun and make memories!

Unlike many other southern lakes, the Lake Santeetlah water level is maintained at high levels year round. On this 8 mile lake there is an abundance of spectacular scenic views, rope swings to get your heart pumping fast, short and tall rocks and cliffs to jump off of & quiet coves to explore with few if any boats or Jet skis in sight on most days. (No houseboats or cigarette boats permitted on lake) This cottage has 3 small bedrooms and sleeps eight. With a large 600 square foot screened-in sleeping porch you will love relaxing on the porch with the dock in sight. Or whipping up a storm in the fully equipped kitchen. This cottage is in a quiet neighborhood on a quiet lake. If you like loud music and screaming and yelling late at night, this is not the place for you. ~ This property has 40 feet of lakefront. The dock is 12' x 16'. You will love swimming in the crystal clear water of Lake Santeetlah. Our cove faces west so we watch a wide, wondrous sunset. In the daytime, part of the dock is in the shade and part in the sun. You can dive and play in the water and dry off fast in the sun while others can sit in the shade watching, cheering on, reading etc... We had not considered these attributes (a shady spot on the water) when looking for a lake house but are thankful they are this way. Enjoy a long day on the lake, and afterwards retreat to the cozy insides of this cabin. The cabin has two decks. One of which is screened in, and the other is furnished with a hot tub for your enjoyment! If you do not feel like getting in the hot tub, the fire pit is great for chilly nights. With enough room for six guests, the cabin is fitted with two bedrooms, 2.5 baths, and a pullout futon. The cabin is equipped with a fully stocked kitchen for all of your cooking needs (Oven, Stove, Microwave, Dishwasher, Pots and Pans, Dishes, Silverware, Pantry, etc..). There is also washer/dryer for any of your laundry needs. WiFi included! If you choose bring your own boat or PWC, you are more than welcome to utilize the dock. If you do not own a boat there is a marina located less than a mile down the road that rents an assortment of boats. This cabin has been in our family for over 20 years, and went through a major renovation in 2001. There is enough parking for several cars if needed, in case the guests are not all traveling together.
